How to reduce your electricity bill this summer.

The air conditioning.

Control the consumption in summer of air conditioning if possible as "crazy" as this idea sounds!

If you have not yet bought the air conditioning unit, do it and look for one with a high energy efficiency, if possible that is A +++ but one that is A + will suffice. This is important because although it is a little more expensive when compared, this type of qualifications consume less than those of lower efficiencies, and you will save month by month and above all year by year.

Start looking at what appliances consume more energy.
You can control your consumption if you are aware of what appliances consume more than another, here is a list of those that consume more:

 • Dryer

• Vitroceramic

• Washing machine

• Griddle

• Dishwasher

• Toaster

The STAND BY.

The devices in "stand by" consume more energy than you think. Devices such as the router, the printer, the video or the alarm clock consume between 60 - 70 kWh per year.

It seems little but if you add consumption of each appliance, it ends up becoming a significant amount. For this reason, it is best to try to disconnect these devices when they are not being used.

Your contracted power.

Electric power is known as the fixed part of the bill because you pay for it, even when you do not use energy.
The following two aspects will help you to know if you have the necessary power term and if you have to lower it.

Do you know what power you have hired?

Many people do not know what electric power they have contracted or are not entirely sure. The best way to know what power term you have is to look at it on the invoice and we will explain where to see it.

Looking at the invoice, you have two sections where you can see what electric power the company is billing:

• In the section "contract data" you can find a line that says "contracted power" and there you will have the contracted kilowatts reflected.
• In "detail of the invoice" or "breakdown of the invoice". They will always calculate the cost by multiplying the price by the electric power.

Do you really need so much electrical power?

It is important to know what power you have contracted and know if it is necessary, reducing the power contracted in the house will save you on the bill. In addition, it is increasingly necessary to think about the importance of the energy certificate. You must find your adequate rate of electricity or natural gas, we must dedicate the necessary time to find it.

There are electric rates called "time discrimination" that offers a cheap and another expensive time for certain hours of the day.

 • The cheap hours are from 22:00 to 12:00 in the winter and from 11:00 to 13:00 in the summer.
• The expensive hours are from 12:00 to 22:00 in winter and from 13:00 to 23:00 in summer.

If you think you can concentrate consumption in these hours, maybe you could hire time discrimination and see if it meets your expectations.

Tips to choose a good energy tariff.

To finish with the energy savings in your home, here are some tips:

• Check how long discounts are applied.

• Look at the price before and after discounts.

• Look carefully if you have maintenance service and if you have it ... Make it complete!

• Check if you have permanence or not.
